While the region has opened for business, many of the hallmark summer events on the Cape, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard have been moved online. Here are a few to check out this week from the comfort of your own home:

Shark Week

Atlantic White Shark Conservancy is partnering with Discovery to present Stars of Shark Week, a virtual fundraising event to support shark research and conservation on August 6 at 7 p.m. Shark experts Chris Fallows, Andy Brandy Casagrande IV, and Greg Skomal will share stories and footage from their favorite moments on Shark Week. 2020 August Fête: There’s No Place Like Home

For this year’s Fête, historic home lovers can watch pre-recorded house tours and then engage in a live question-and-answer session with homeowners, builders, architects, and other preservation experts. The tour will feature Nantucket Preservation Award-winning homes as well as historic properties with preservation easements. Visit nantucketpreservation.org

August 7 at 10 a.m.
Sankofa Festival of African-American Literature

The fifth annual festival will be online and will include a round table discussion on the topic of The Resonance of Africa in African-American Culture with His Majesty King Alexandre Tatabong of Cameroon, Dr. Sylvie Djousse, Eric Garvin and Kevin Thompson of Cross World Africa, and activist Caroline Hunter. August 8 at 7 p.m.
Boston Pops for Nantucket

A free celebratory broadcast of the Boston Pops for Nantucket will air on August 8 at 7 p.m. to support Nantucket Cottage Hospital. The event, which takes place on Jetties Beach every year, will air on NCTV18 (and on its website) and on 97.7 ACK-FM. After the show, event organizers have asked viewers to step outside at 7:45 p.m. to “Clap for the Carers.” Visit nantuckethospital.org

August 9 at 6 p.m.
Citizens Bank Pops by the Sea At-Home Edition

The Arts Foundation of Cape Cod (AFCC) has partnered with Citizens Bank to bring Pops by the Sea into your living room. The concert can be streamed on AFCC’s website on August 9th at 6 p.m. Tune in to enjoy virtual performances by the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a spotlight on Keith Lockhart, an inside look at the AFCC’s work on Cape Cod, and a special tribute to the Cape’s healthcare professionals.
